Crotched Mountain- Main Event 12.22.08
The sixth annual Main Event Series went off in wintry wonderland this weekend at Crotched Mtn in NH. A Nor'easter chased us into the resort and another one slammed us on the way out. There was truth to be told that snowboarding is all about the snow after all. The weekend was a combination of early season powder slashes, not-so-great visibility and one of the first legitimate park/jump set ups on the east coast. Crotched Mtn recovered from one of Northeast's worst ice storms in over a decade and did not have power for a week before the event. Josh Lempert from Snow Grind stayed up all night with Brandon Halberstadt sculpting a 35 ft jump and rail combo set up. The snow started easing up just in time for the contest to start Saturday morning. We had some heavy hitters and local rippers join us for the kickoff of the 08/09 Main Event Series starter. When the contest got rolling, it was clear that some riders had been practicing. Lauren Tamposi was escalated from AM to PRO when she started throwing backside 360's and her grabs grabbed her a victory in the pro class. Wes Walsh was spinning 900's all over the place and laying down 270's on and off the rails. He caught the judge's eyes to become a top hopeful for this season. Men's Pro 1st Place – Wes Walsh 2nd Place – Danny Tourmarkine 3rd Place – Jake Harris Women's Pro 1st Place - Lauren Tamposi 2nd Place - Emma Graham 3rd Place - Jordan Parks Am Men 1st Place – Nate Powers 2nd Place – Rex Calebrese 3rd Place – Forrest Novotny Am Women 1st Place – Kelli Redes 2nd Place – Brianna Daly 3rd Place – Nicole Roccanova Eastern Boarder's Best Trick- Danny Tourmarkine won $100 gift card to EB with a combo 270 change up, 270 off the rail with the best style! Who along with Wes Walsh will be advancing to the Downtown Showdown in Portland, Maine for Valentine's Day! http://www.thedowntownshowdown.com/ The Mini Main Event had it's premier debut Sunday, December 21st. The event catering the 13+under shredders did just that. We had kids come out in blizzard conditions to strut there stuff, and try to qualify for an invite to the Burton US Open Junior Jam. They rocked out on a mini park set up and all showed that they have what it takes to be snowboarding's next generation of talent. Nate Strickler won and walked away a Flow snowboarding Micron Team snowboard and a pair of Anon goggles. The rest of the competitors all received a RED helmet and a bag of prizes for riding tough. Tons of Cash $, and Prizes were given away to snowboarders this weekend, including Snowboards, Boots, Bindings, Helmets, Goggles, Energy Drinks, Backpacks, T's, Hoodies, Jackets, Pants, and of course, stickers. A Huge thanks to our sponsors for the great prizes and all their support, to Burton Snowboards, Flow Snowboarding, Redbull, Fuel TV, Direct TV, Dekal.com, RED Helmets, Anon Optics, Snowgrind, Scion, and Rye Airfield. Wachusett Mtn, MA – Sunday, January 4th, 2009 Ski Sundown, CT – Saturday, January 17th, 2009 Stowe Mtn, VT – Saturday, January 31st, 2009 Sugarloaf Mtn, ME – Sunday, February 15th, 2009 Loon Mtn, NH – The Finals – Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Boston Art and Snowboarding11.20.07
The Boston Pheonix just published an article, bringing together art and snowboarding. Dekal is in on the action. They said "For that approach, Leary recommends Dekal.com, which allows users to create personalized, adhesive-backed graphics (including photos, if desired) to cover skis or snowboards, using the New Hampshire–based company's Web site. Dekal.com creates a happy medium for those looking for a personalized board or skis but who don’t want to fork over large sums of money or sacrifice technical quality."
